What you pay, broken into its parts
Most travel sites show one number and explain it afterwards. Here is the whole of it, before you are anywhere near a payment page.
A fare is not one price, it is a bucket
Airlines file many fares for the same seat, each with its own rules and its own limited number of seats. When you are told a fare has "gone up", what has usually happened is that the cheapest bucket sold out and the next one opened. Nothing about the flight changed.
This matters because it explains what does and does not work. Booking on a particular day of the week does not systematically get you a cheaper fare — that is folklore. Booking before a bucket empties does. So does being flexible about which day you fly, which is the single largest lever most travellers actually hold.
Every lever that lowers a fare, and its price
Nothing on this list is free. The question is only which cost you would rather pay.

Effects are described in relative terms deliberately. Quoting a percentage saving for a route and date we have not priced would be a number we made up.
What we will not tell you
We will not tell you we beat every price. We do not know what every price is, and neither does anyone else making that claim. On a simple domestic non-stop, the airline’s own site is frequently the cleanest route and we will point you there.
We also publish no ratings, testimonials or award badges, because we have not earned any yet. What we can put in front of you today is the fee schedule, the cancellation rules and an account of how we are paid.
Questions worth asking
Is there a best day to book?
Not reliably. The studies that produce a "best day" are averaging across millions of routes, and the effect disappears on any individual one. What consistently works is watching a specific route over a couple of weeks and moving when the price drops into a range you are happy with.
Do prices rise because I searched before?
Airline pricing is not driven by your search history in the way the internet believes. Prices move because inventory buckets sell. If you want to rule it out entirely, search in a private window — it costs you nothing and settles the question.
Are last-minute fares cheaper?
Usually the opposite on business routes, where late demand is inelastic and airlines price accordingly. Genuine last-minute bargains exist mainly on leisure routes with unsold capacity, which is not something you can plan around.
